Héctor Lepe is a Mexican jazz guitarist and composer currently based in Helsinki, Finland. Héctor has quickly emerged as a promising guitarist from the new generation of musicians in the jazz-scene in Finland. He graduated from the prestigious Sibelius Academy both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Jazz. He’s currently active in different projects such as Kadi Vija Trio, Aapo Heinonen Quintet, Toon Verheyen Quartet.

His first release, “Pedro’s Dream” for the Finnish label Flame Jazz Records is his debut as a band leader and a composer. Most of the compositions are inspired by Mexican folklore and literature. Lepe manages to subtly blend in Latin-American musical elements and modern jazz compositions.
